January (In China)

Good day, it is Kondo here. We have heavy snows this winter, don't we? I should say it is really Hokuriku-winter seemingly.

By the way, I have visited Beijing for four days from Jan. 4th, and Dalian with a tight schedule for a night and two days from Jan. 28th. It was so bitter cold winter that I had pain in my face and ears while walking outside there.

China made a record of over 1.8 million in both car production and sales, and they achieved #1 in the world in consecutive two years in 2010. In the both year, they made remarkable growth of over 30% in GDP. This fact indicates that the day is in sight when China will be the largest disused cars producing country. Consequently, they seem to hasten the construction of 'recycling- oriented conomy' in both central and local government in China.

In China, only the government accredited companies can operate the car recycling business, and the government limits only one or few in each city. The facilities and skill of these accredited companies still have long way to go. Therefore they intend to tie up with Japanese companies in order to gain the technical knowhow and the skill. My visit for Beijing and Dalian is related to this issue.

I think what they require can be classified roughly into next three categories; ①offering the facilities and the technique for environmental preservation, ②the construction of managing system over the production, inventory control and distribution network of used and rebuilt car parts, ③classifying resources and efficient collection.

Particularly in China, they had to dispose of the functional parts such as used engines and transmissions into scrap metal in the past. However I was told that they had been able to sell such used parts as rebuilt parts, due to recent amendment of law. So I was impressed with the potentiality of building spare parts network makes business in China.

The car recycling industry in China is certainly prospective industry and this will contribute to build the recycling-oriented society. I was told that the government of China is putting in serious effort to tackle environmental issue, and they allocate considerable sum of funds for related businesses. I am considering to cooperate somewhat with such move in China.
